ABSTRACT

A field study has been carried out on the areas including streams and stagnant waters in Avsa Island on 21.08.10 a nd on t he ones in Pasalimani Island on 22 -23.08.10. In this study, samples of mud have been collected from 3 localities from Avsa Island and 9 from Pasalimani Island. Furthermore, the chironomids taken from the mud has been detected under microscope. In Avsa Island 6 s pecies belonging to Chironominae subfamily, in Pasalimani Island 9 s pecies belonging to Chironominae subfamily and 8 s pecies belonging to Tanypodinae subfamily, totally 17 species have been found. All of the species are determined as first record in this study.
