ABSTRACT

The geology and the geological section of the 197.00m part of Nene Hatun Tunnel, from Konak towards Üçyol, which is a part of Izmir Metro System (Izray) a solution for inner city communication are presented. Engineering properties of the rocks on the tunnel route are investigated; reinforcement types for the tunnel are advised. For these purposes, rock classification systems are investigated, Q-system is chosen and the parameters of for the application of the Q-system were determined for each advance. Later in the light of these studies, the reinforcement advised by the Q-system determined.
