Abstract
In this study pentaerythrityl tetrabromide has been used as the source of the spiro-carbon atom. A new tetraaldyde has been produced which can then undergo cyclisation with diamine functionalities via metaltemplate Schiff-base condensation using group XII metal ions, to give a dinuclear complexes of the spiroligand. Cadmium(II) or zinc(II) complexes of N3O2 and N2O2 donor macrobicyclic ligands were characterized by IR, 1 H NMR and mass spectral studies.
