Abstract

In this study, St52-3 construction steel has been welded with MIG/MAG welding method that has a wide range of application in industry. The mixture of the shielded gasses in MIG/MAG welding process is very important for the quality of the weld. In the study, three different mixture of gases were used. These mixture of these gas were 80Ar+18CO2+2O2, 88Ar+10CO2+2O2 and 93Ar+5CO2+2O2. After welding procedure the effect of the mixture on the tensile strength was investigated. The results of the tests showed that the mixture of 88Ar+ 10CO2+2O2 shielding gas gives highest tensile strength while93Ar+5CO2+2O2 shielding gas mixture results in lowest tensile strength.
