Abstract

Ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (EDA-2HCl, 50 mg/kg/day) was given by intramuscular (i.m.) injection to Wistar albino rats for ten days and change in body weight, the histopathologically effects on liver and kidney were examined. Thus, gains in body weight was not changed significantly (p<0,05). It was observed that endothelial degeneration of vein, mononuclear cell infiltration, degeneration of hepatocyte membrane, hypertrophy, loosing of cytoplasm and nucleus, vacuolization in cytoplasm, picnotic nucleus in hepatocytes and loss of integrity in the tissue were observed in liver. Increasing of distance between parietal and visceral layer of Bowman capsule, atrophy in Glomerulus, loosing of Glomerulus, degeneration of membrane in epithelia of tubules, loosing of nucleus and cytoplasm in epithelial cell, hypertrophy, vacuolization in cytoplasm, picnotic nucleus, degenerative nucleus and cytoplasmic residues in tubule lumen were observed in kidney. Besides, thickening of basal membrane of hepatocytes in liver and epithelia of tubules in kidney were determined.
